CODE OF CONDUCT POLICY

 

1. Purpose

Wickerbys C.I.C. is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone we work with including staff, volunteers, service users, partners, and the wider community.

 

This Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour expected from all individuals representing or interacting with Wickerbys C.I.C.

2. Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to:

  • All staff and volunteers

  • Directors and trustees

  • Contractors, partners, and anyone representing the organisation

  • Visitors and service users when participating in our activities

 

3. Core Principles

All individuals are expected to:

  1. Act with Integrity – Be honest, ethical, and transparent in all dealings.

  2. Respect Others – Treat everyone with dignity, courtesy, and fairness. Discrimination, harassment, or bullying will not be tolerated.

  3. Protect Safety and Wellbeing – Prioritise the welfare of service users, staff, and volunteers. Comply with safeguarding policies and health & safety requirements.

  4. Maintain Confidentiality – Respect the privacy of others and handle personal information responsibly.

  5. Be Professional – Represent Wickerbys C.I.C. positively in all interactions, whether online, in-person, or via correspondence.

  6. Follow Policies and Procedures – Adhere to the organisation’s policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

  7. Promote Inclusion – Support equality, diversity, and inclusion in all activities and decisions.

  8. Report Concerns – Raise any concerns about unsafe practices, misconduct, or breaches of policy promptly through the appropriate channels.

 

4. Unacceptable Behaviour

The following behaviours are not acceptable and may result in disciplinary or legal action:

  • Harassment, bullying, or intimidation

  • Discrimination on the basis of race, gender, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or age

  • Abuse of authority or power

  • Breaches of safeguarding or health & safety policies

  • Fraud, theft, or misuse of organisational resources

  • Sharing confidential or sensitive information without authorisation

 

5. Responsibilities

  • Staff and Volunteers: Follow this Code at all times and encourage others to do the same.

  • Directors and Trustees: Ensure the organisation fosters a culture of accountability and professional behaviour.

  • Service Users: Respect staff, volunteers, and fellow participants while using our services.

 

6. Reporting and Complaints

  • If you witness or experience behaviour that breaches this Code, report it promptly to your line manager, safeguarding lead, or via the organisation’s Complaints or Whistleblowing procedures.

  • All reports will be taken seriously, investigated confidentially, and addressed fairly.

 

7. Review

This public-facing Code of Conduct will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains clear, relevant, and aligned with legal and ethical standards.
