HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY

1. Our Commitment

Wickerbys C.I.C. is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for all staff, volunteers, service users, partners, and visitors.

We take reasonable steps to ensure that our activities are carried out safely and in accordance with relevant health and safety legislation and best practice.

2. Our Approach

We aim to:

  • Identify and manage risks through appropriate risk assessments

  • Provide safe venues and equipment

  • Ensure appropriate supervision during activities

  • Maintain clear emergency procedures

  • Promote a culture where safety is everyone’s responsibility

Health and safety considerations form part of all planning and delivery of our services.

3. Responsibilities

Wickerbys C.I.C. will:

  • Conduct regular risk assessments for activities and venues

  • Provide appropriate training and guidance to staff and volunteers

  • Maintain suitable insurance cover

  • Record and review accidents and incidents

  • Take appropriate action to address identified risks

 

Staff and Volunteers are expected to:

  • Follow health and safety procedures

  • Take reasonable care of their own safety and that of others

  • Report hazards, accidents, or concerns promptly

  • Use equipment safely and responsibly

 

Service Users and Visitors are expected to:

  • Follow instructions provided by staff and volunteers

  • Behave in a way that does not put themselves or others at risk

  • Inform staff of any relevant medical conditions or accessibility needs where appropriate

4. Emergency Procedures

Emergency procedures will be clearly communicated during activities where necessary.

In the event of an emergency:

  • Follow instructions from staff or volunteers

  • Exit the building calmly if required

  • Contact emergency services by calling 999 if someone is in immediate danger

 

5. Accident Reporting

All accidents, incidents, or near misses should be reported to a member of staff or volunteer as soon as possible so that appropriate action can be taken.

Serious incidents will be managed in accordance with legal reporting requirements.

6. Continuous Improvement

We are committed to reviewing and improving our health and safety practices regularly to ensure a safe environment for everyone involved in our activities.
